Civically Engaged Grads

We are a group of Northwestern graduate students from all disciplines who dedicate our time and talents to addressing social problems and engaging in civic life. We believe civic engagement comes in many forms, including volunteer work, service-learning, political advocacy and community-based research. As future professors and research professionals, we believe these forms of engagement are an important aspect of university and professional life. By bringing together graduate students from across fields and professional tracks, we hope to exchange experience and best practices, promote collaboration, support each other’s work, and increase the visibility of civically-engaged scholarship. We plan on-campus events that highlight student and faculty research, as well as informal events like happy hours, community site-visits and neighborhood tours. Our goal is to connect graduate students to each other, to resources across the university, and to other institutions in the communities of Evanston, Chicago and beyond.
